San Antonio, Texas — Methodist Hospital Metropolitan celebrated the grand opening of the new Methodist Physicians OB/GYN and Midwifery clinic with a ribbon cutting ceremony, expanding access to maternity care in downtown San Antonio and the surrounding areas. The clinic is located at 1303 McCullough Ave., Suite 161, San Antonio, TX 78212, within the hospital’s Professional Building.
The clinic is the first midwifery clinic for Methodist Healthcare, introducing certified nurse midwifery services as an additional care option for patients with low-risk pregnancies. This model of care emphasizes a personalized, patient-centered approach while remaining fully supported by the hospital’s comprehensive obstetric services.
“This clinic expands how we care for patients and supports greater choice in the maternity experience,” said Greg Seiler, chief executive officer of Methodist Hospital Metropolitan. “It builds on the exceptional care already provided by our Women’s Services team, empowering families to select the care model that best fits their needs, all with access to the full resources of our hospital.”
Certified nurse midwives are advanced practice providers who care for women throughout pregnancy, labor, delivery, and the postpartum period. The addition of midwifery services complements Methodist Hospital Metropolitan’s established women’s services, which includes a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and maternal care designation from the state of Texas. The hospital delivers approximately 3,000 babies each year and contributed to Methodist Hospital’s designation as a 2026 High Performing Hospital in Maternity Care by U.S. News & World Report.
The grand opening brought together community members, hospital leadership, and local officials, including San Antonio District 1 City Councilwoman Sukh Kaur, to celebrate the expansion of services designed to meet the evolving needs of women and families in the community.
